Nicknamed "Dougy Double", Doug Hughes is notorious for CRASHING on the double jumps and doing double flips in the foam pits, and hopes one day to be crowned as the "Panamanian Missle"! For his speedy, flawless runs down the track.
He was born in the Republica of Panama near the crystal clear waters of the ocean, coconut and palm trees as far as the eye can see and white sandy beaches in the small city of Colon, Panama. It would be shortly after, where he would be introduced to Ice and the cold air of Minnesota known for there 10,000 lakes! Saint Paul, Minnesota is where he would play hockey competively for 18 years till finally competing in his first Red Bull Crashed Ice event in 2011 at the age of 24. This challenge and his passion for this sport has led him to his 5th season!
When he is not competing or working at one of his 2 other occupations you can catch him training year round, traveling all over the world doing other talents such as snowboarding, scuba diving, mountain biking, mountain climbing.
Along with Reed Whiting and Cameron Naaz, he organized and built the first ever "Ice Cross Downhill" track in North America, making history and introducing their passion to the future of our sport, the kids.
